Can you recall a time in your life where things were calm and going “well”? Do you also recall when your life became less calm in some way? It’s kind of ironic that our lives don’t stay static for long at all, and often things change just when we start to become somewhat numb to how are lives are.
What I have observed, when looking at my past, is that after a short time of being in a routine of some kind and life going rather smoothly, things changed shortly after I started to get somewhat bored! With that in mind, do you think it is possible (or even likely) that we call forth challenges in our lives just so we can have fuller and more vivid experiences?
If life was simple, you’d be happy, right? Right? LOL I say this because most people would probably respond to that question with “Of course!” But how many times can you look back and see shifts in what your life consisted of after noticing that some part of you was getting bored? Don’t you think that humans like to be challenged? I have to say yes, we do.
So then, why do we like to be challenged if consciously we fight to have easy, predictable and uneventful lives? I think this could be one of the biggest conflicts that people in general experience. Maybe if we could just admit and acknowledge that we do crave challenges and that we do enjoy surprises, the conflict would lessen…and then maybe by welcoming those challenges, we could actually start to enjoy them more! This could also be tied into the blog post titled “Problem or Blessing” because our experiences all come down to one thing…perspective.
Just something to ponder.
