A woman wrote to a friend of mine, who is also a healer, about how some of her experiences with all of us at the Higher Self Bookstore has impacted her life and helped her get in touch with her “calling”. Her words were very touching and profound, and I’m sure everyone at the store shared in the experience of feeling gratitude to be able to be of service to others in such a meaningful way. I don’t think any one of us shared a message with her that she did not already know intuitively before she came to us, but instead she got the validation that she was on the right track for her own growth and spiritual peace.
One of the things that she spoke of was her intense need to help people “step up to the plate”. Well, here’s how she put it: “My mission is all about enlightenment, uplifting self-esteem, empathy, compassion, world peace, summing it up with the dire need for humanity to step up to the plate and take back our rightful role as caretakers of each other and our planet and for that matter the universe, with the help of our Creator, our archangels, angels, guides and the masters that have gone on before.”
See, there comes a time for most people, eventually, where some part of the Self starts to stir. Thoughts start to become foreign, and we begin to question what we have been taught, what we’ve been told to believe and our values begin to transform.
Who am I? Where did I come from? Do I have a purpose? What is that purpose and how do I find it? These are some of the fundamental questions that start to surface as your everyday routines quiet down and you have more time to sit and be with yourself. How long has it been since you took time to just be with yourself? Because it is in those moments, I believe, that the deeper spirit that is within us all starts to call your name, beckoning for your attention, for your trust. It is then that you start to feel that amazing connection to your fellow man, Mother Earth and the Universal life force.
And no matter where you are or what you are doing, it is at that moment that you start the process of uncovering your true potential, your gifts that give you the opportunity to love more deeply, trust more openly and forgive more easily. It is then that you begin to wonder, not “Who am I?” but instead, “Who WAS I before?” because your true essence has begun to resurface.
This essence is your core and is filled with compassion, trust, abundance and possibility. And although it may feel unfamiliar to you when you start to reconnect with it, by no means is it a stranger for this is who you were when you were born into this world and this is who will be when you return to your Source.
Life is not about surviving, unless you decide it is. Life is about taking every opportunity brought before you to heal, grow and ultimately expand the human experience by transforming fear and negativity into Love! There is no one way to becoming more love-centered, although there may be only one way before you at this particular juncture. And the path may change as you travel down it, but no matter what the path looks like, understand that you ARE the beginning point at which love comes into your life more abundantly. Everything in your life starts with you. And no matter which path you take to leading a more loving, compassionate and abundantly rich life, you will know that you are headed in the right direction if you can see the love and respect for others in your actions.
