Holding on to “yuk”!

Have you ever lost luggage at an airport or witnessed someone who had?  Do you recall some kind of frenzy over the lost luggage?  I had a bag “misplaced” once, actually someone took my bag…by accident of course.  But I didn’t have it nonetheless.  I remember how frantic I became over a few things that I have become accustomed to having on a daily basis.  “What am I going to do now?”  It wasn’t complete panic, but I sure wasn’t okay with the idea…having to adapt to letting go of things that we may not even use often and that may not even be beneficial to us can be a challenge.  Sometimes, if we cling too tightly instead of letting some of the “stuff” go, it gets ripped right out of our hands!

I think of the time I lost luggage and now compare it to the times when I know it is in my best interest to let go of other things…mostly less tangible things like bad habits, complaints, or negative thoughts.  Hey, sometimes I just like to complain, whether it is productive or not!  (By the way, spirituality does not make you exempt from temper-tantrums!)

Now there certainly is nothing wrong with having baggage, or is there?  How much baggage do we actually carry around with us every day that we truly do not have use for anymore?  Spiritual, psychological, emotional or mental baggage…it all adds up.  Yuk!  Anything that I know no longer serves me (yet I cling to for dear life) is what I call “yuk”.

“Don’t take my pain away from me….don’t leave me here without my misery.  Cause if I let go, then what would I do?  This waking up is hard to do.”  <<This is one of my favorite songs by a spiritual comedian/musician, Scott Kalechstein.  (When I find a good link to his stuff, I’ll add it.)  So, just because we think being a certain way or doing a certain thing is best for us, it doesn’t mean we will adopt it…in fact, we might rebel against it, lol.  ”How’s this for control?!”

How many bags are you lugging around with you these days?  Would you kick and scream if someone actually tried to relieve you of your pain and suffering?  Some people ask for help but yet they would much rather tell you what they need instead of finding out what you may have to offer them…has this ever been you?  I know it has been me at times.  I even argue with my Higher Self and ethereal helpers when I feel like I need to be right! Hahahaha.  (And for the record, I’m usually proven wrong…but that arguing can also be an avenue to self-discovery.)

Go ahead, kick and scream and throw a fit, but when you’re done, try listening…listen to yourself, your inner guidance.  Listen to that quiet part of you that is peaceful and allowing.  Listen to your heart, your passion, because that will always guide you to what will best serve you in this moment…and the next time you “lose” something, take a moment and ask yourself if you might have been rebelling against letting it go and releasing it.  *wink*

Blessings!
